Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood Spring/Summer 2019
Kronthaler created a very scenic collection. Full of colors, wigs, high platforms, and even skateboards, his Spring/Summer is on the edge of burlesque. The stiff-looking fabrics had a geometric style that was also in the dresses’ décolletage. The items in a variety of floral prints didn’t remind at any moment the romanticism that spring evokes; instead, it was urban in the rush of its asymmetrical tailoring. If we can take one stylistic concept from Kronthaler’s runway, it would be oversized. Capes, dresses, blazers: all items added an urban bulky volume aspect to it. The 80’s inspiration wasn’t only in the silhouette, but also in the accessories: a doll as an earring, for example. Without too many pieces that are ready-to-wear, the concept that we can easily adhere to our style from Kronthaler’s collection is the oversized upper body with mini shorts that expose the legs and end in high heels or platforms.
