Paco Rabanne Spring/Summer 2019

“I wanted it to be super refined, almost giving a grunge, modern silhouette, but with all those delicate elements…. There’s a bit of a mystic feel,” said Julien Dossena. Mystical, ethnic, and metal-mesh constitute Dossena’s collection. Sari skirts were a new look at spring. Combined with different styles, they elongated the silhouette and added a “mystical” aspect to the outfits that can easily be incorporated by us. The long white sheer dress with floral hemline has a boho style that evokes the seventies. Almost entirely made in a big mix of prints, the modern silhouette without too much volume helped the collection to look wearable. The sari skirt with mesh metal blouse made for great workwear. Combinations of leather biker jackets with more ethnic items worked well in outfits that could be too boho but turned out cool and modern. The best outfit was the silver trousers and blazer set. Light print, metal colored, and modern silhouette all in one look. While that outfit was a good example of Dossena’s signature, the green sheer dress with a plastic-y look didn’t belong in the collection. The texture is very interesting, but it wasn’t ready-to-wear and didn’t have the grunge mystical tone of the collection.
