Kenzo Spring/Summer 2019
A mix of snake-skin print, yellow plaids, polka dots, sheer dresses, and pops of royal blue, orange, green, and fuchsia made Kenzo’s party-worthy collection. Fun and young, Kenzo’s collection had some interesting ideas. The use of colorful tights paired with open-toe sandals, the combination of different prints embracing the excess, and the dresses with ruffled sleeves that are fun with a blink of vintage were all fashion concepts that can easily be welcomed next time you’re looking for something fun to add to your style. The accessories deserve some attention too. Colorful sport sunglasses and printed bags that communicated with the ensembles via print or colors added to the fun. But if young, fun, and party worthy describe Kenzo’s attires, there weren’t a lot of formal options outside the pool of prints and stimulating colors. If you’re looking for black-and-white traditional stylistic options, Kenzo doesn’t have much to contribute—although the white dress under a white coat was sophisticated and the most suave outfit included. Humberto Leon and Carol Lim’s collection carried to the runway the feeling of optimism that the designers wanted to show. The show was inclusive not only in the tone Leon and Lim want to set for the brand, but also in the choices made for the Summer collection.
