Alexander Wang Spring/Summer 2019

Leather jackets, shorts, chain accessories, bandanas and snake prints set the mood for Alexander Wang’s 2018 collection. Inspired by biker culture, the runway looked like a rock ‘n’ roll concert. Wang also brought football jerseys to the collection, along with some more unconventional picks: fanny packs, sport sunglasses, “Axl Rose’s” bandanas, and sneakers. What Wang preferred to call “Collection 1” instead of Spring/Summer, was an invitation to all rock stars in style. Without a broad color palette (mostly black, white, and red tones), Wang’s style is very defined, even blending different references in his garments. The sexy portion of his collection meshed well with the attitude Wang created. Exposed lingerie and jersey dresses with strappy heels incorporated sass in the collection. While Wang presented a harmonious and straightforward fashion show, it is not a collection that could inspire all types of women and their different styles. However, he showed pieces that when paired with a more delicate style can be the rock ‘n’ roll attitude you want to balance everything out.
